It seems like everyone is trying to lose weight these days. Those extra pounds pile on effortlessly, but can sometimes seem impossible to shed.
Everywhere you look, diet gurus bombard you with the newest scheme to lose weight. The majority of these methods, which usually involve pills and starvation, only produce temporary results, and can actually do more harm than good.
The more natural philosophy of weight loss, a combination of strict dieting and difficult exercise regimes, often bend the dieter’s willpower to the breaking point, causing them to give up and binge their blues away.
Thankfully, there are a few simple things a person can do to drop poundage without even trying.
1. Make Sure To Stay Properly Hydrated
Most folks aren’t drinking enough water. Cut out sodas and other sugary beverages, and make a point to drink at least two liters of water each day. This will keep your body functioning properly and provide a feeling of fullness that curtails snacking throughout the day.
Proper hydration will also benefit skin and flush the body of toxins. Drink lots in the morning, lots before each meal, and periodically throughout the day, whether you feel thirsty or not.
2. Get Plenty Of Sleep Each Night
Lack of sleep can cause a lot of problems for the body. Stress levels go through the roof, concentration is shot, desire to exercise vanishes, and you’ll be more likely to gravitate towards high fat and sugar foods that provide unhealthy energy boosts.
While everyone has different sleep requirements, it’s generally accepted that eight hours of sleep per night is ideal. Pick a bedtime and stick to it, making sure not to get off your sleep schedule.
3. Small Plate, Small Portion, Small Waistline
Switching to small plates will help ensure that your food portions also get smaller, since a reduction of food equals a reduction of calories. If you make a point to only eat one small plate of food per meal, this tactic will benefit your waistline.
4. Take A Seat Before You Eat
It’s far too easy to eat standing up, making it difficult to gauge fullness and limit portions. Walking around eating mouthfuls is harmful behavior, as the calories pile up during the day and pack on pounds.
Make a point to sit down and eat your meal, and stop eating when you get up from the table.
5. Don’t Shop Hungry – Cravings equal Calories
You’ll be more likely to lose weight if you have healthy food in your cupboards. You can’t binge on junk food if there is none in your house. This will require smart shopping at the grocery store, and the best way to shop smart is to shop with a full belly.
If you shop when you’re hungry, you will instinctively purchase the unhealthy items you crave, which means your pantry will be full of these unhealthy foods. Shopping while full allows you to calmly and logically choose healthier groceries that will provide your body with the most nutrition.
